***** McKay graduated from Millersville University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and minors in both Computer Science and Spanish Culture Studies in December of 2019.
While at Millersville, McKay juggled her rigorous coursework while simultaneously captaining the university equestrian team, working at the university ropes course,
as well as the Math Assistance Center,
and participating in weekly Bible studies through Reformed University Fellowship.
As of August 2020, she is now enrolled in the Ph.D. program at the University of South Carolina where she is studying Applied and Computational Mathematics.
At UofSC, McKay has worked under Dr. Steven Derochers as well as Dr. Neil Bornstein for MATH 141 and MATH 142, respectively. McKay has also been the instructor of record for an online, asynchronous version of MATH 122 and is currently
the instructor of record for MATH 122 in-person this fall.
***** McKay is passionate about helping others learn to appreciate mathematics for the beautiful subject that it is.
McKay comes from a unique homeschool background where individualized instruction and a personal
connection with the teacher is strongly fostered. She aspires to bring these same ideals into her own instruction. McKay accredits her
work eithic and determination to her uncommon roots and is forever grateful to her parents for embarking on the homeschooling journey.
***** When not in the classroom, McKay enjoys her time outdoors. While she loves hiking and fishing, she is notorious for her passion of horses.
McKay grew up on a small horse farm in Northern Virgina, where her pony, Whisper, still resides. Just recently, McKay welcomed her other pony, Tia, to join her in South Carolina.
McKay also enjoys all sorts of crafting; from knitting to baking. Most recently, she has ignigted a new hobby of wood burning and has decorated many wooden spoons.
*****In the summer of 2021, McKay married Josiah and adopted his name, ever so slightly deviating from her maiden name, McGee. After the wedding, Josiah joined her in
South Carolina, where the two currently live with their Jack Russell, Rosie.
